Introduction to UK Regulated Qualifications (ATHE & CTH)

Qualifications from the United Kingdom are renowned worldwide for their quality and high standards. The programmes offered are fully regulated by Ofqual, which provides a reliable indication of their academic value and professional relevance. These qualifications are structured within the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), a system that makes the level and size of each qualification clear and easy to understand for students, employers, and higher education institutions globally.

The RQF levels provide a clear progression pathway. A Level 3 qualification is equivalent to A-Levels and prepares students for university entry.A Level 4 qualification is equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree, while a Level 5 qualification corresponds to the second year.Successfully completing a Level 5 Diploma often grants “advanced entry” or “top-up” access, allowing students to proceed directly to the final year of a bachelor’s degree at a UK university. Level 6 qualifications are at the bachelor’s degree level, and Level 7 qualifications are postgraduate level, often providing a pathway to an MBA or other master’s programmes.

The qualifications are awarded by two of the UK’s leading bodies. ATHE (Awards for Training and Higher Education) is a global awarding organization regulated by Ofqual, offering a wide portfolio of qualifications in fields such as business, management, computing, and healthcare.

CTH (Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality) is a specialist awarding body for the hospitality and tourism sectors, providing qualifications that are highly valued by employers worldwide. This structure of “Diploma leading to degree” offers an efficient, cost-effective, and recognized route to achieving a full UK university degree.
